While the majority of Geek customers choose not to limit the amount they spend with Geek, Budget Caps are a way for you to control how many leads you get from Geek, setting a limit on how many you receive each month.
Some things to understand about Budget Caps:
In addition to setting an amount you want to spend each month on leads, you’ll also need to select a a type of Budget Cap in the options, which dictates HOW we’ll distribute that spend. There are two options: Hard & Paced.
Paced spending drips your leads out over the month, attempting to spread leads throughout the month by turning your campaigns on/off to hit your Budget Cap by the end of the month, given our current volume.
With Paced spending, our system assesses your budget on a daily basis. To calculate the pace we should drip leads out at, we take your budgeted number (Ex. 10 leads per month), divide it by the days in the month (Ex. 30 day) and so your daily lead rate would be 10 /30 = .333 leads per day. Put another way, about one lead every three days.
So if you get a lead on day 1, our system will pause your campaigns for the next two days since your budgeted pace is one lead every three days. It will restart on Day 4. If you got two leads on Day 4, your campaigns would turn off for the next 5 days since your budgeted amount is one lead every three days, or two leads every six days.
However, leads don’t always come in evenly to us, so this may result in less leads. If volume later in the month is less than earlier in the month, we still might not reach your desired Budget Cap.
Hard spending runs your campaign continuously until your budget cap is hit. If it takes 10 days for that to happen, your campaigns will be paused from the 10th through the end of the month, turning back again on the 1st of the following month.
